What is BALPA petitions?

The BALPA petitions service allows members to open direct dialogue with the governing body of the association – the National Executive Council (NEC).

Petitions must follow the standards and rules set out below. After 500 signatures, a petition will secure a formal debate by the NEC and will get a written response.

See full rules here.

How does it work?

  • You create a petition. Only BALPA members can create or sign a petition.
  • You ask other BALPA members to support your petition.
  • Once submitted, your petition will go through a moderation process to ensure it meets the required standards for petitions.
  • If your petition meets the required standard, it will be published and open for signatures. Any petitions that do not meet the set standards for petitions will be rejected.
  • At 500 signatures, the petition will be formally accepted for debate by the BALPA National Executive Council (NEC).
  • After the NEC have debated your petition, you will get a written response.
